After hosting nine annual CHTA conferences, The Cultural & Heritage Tourism Alliance joined forces with the US Cultural and Heritage Tourism Marketing Council, Shop America Alliance and the California Travel and Tourism Commission to produce a new joint conference called The ONE Conference, held in Pasadena, California, in January 2011. The CHTA also supported the January 2012 ONE conference held in Orlando, Florida.

As a member of Partners in Tourism, the Cultural & Heritage Tourism Alliance worked with federal partners on the first two inaugural "Exchange" meetings, held in Washington DC, in May 2011 and May 2012. The Exchange brought together representatives from dozens of federal agencies representing tourism, arts and heritage, along with cultural tourism practitioners from across the country.

CHTA members representing urban cultural destinations also held an informal gathering in Los Angeles in January 2012, to exchange ideas and information pertinent to their communities.

Currently the CHTA is assessing the feasibility and need for a future stand-alone CHTA conference, and working with our colleagues at Partners in Tourism to determine the possibilities of the Exchange as an annual or bi-annual conference for the field.
